SOUTH ORANGE RESCUE SQUAD,INC. <br /> North Carolina <br /> Standard Operations Manual <br /> Subject: Training Reimbursement SOM No.: GEN-002 <br /> Effective Date: June 9,2005 <br /> Revision Date: Authorization Signature: <br /> 1. PURPOSE <br /> 1.1. To provide guidelines for the reimbursement of personal funds spent for the purpose of Rescue or <br /> EMS related continuing education. The squad encourages members' continuing education and <br /> desires to assist in defraying the cost of such training. <br /> 2. OSHA REQUIRMENTS <br /> 2.1.N/A <br /> 3. CERTIFICATION LEVELS <br /> 3.1. All <br /> 4. POLICIES <br /> 4.1. All funds for training reimbursement shall come from the appropriate division's budget line item <br /> for"training." <br /> 4.2. Out-of-county courses that are also available within Orange County should be reimbursed at the <br /> local rate. <br /> 4.3 In the event that requests for training reimbursement would exceed the appropriate division's <br /> budget line item for training,the board of directors may allocate additional unencumbered funds <br /> to said line item. <br /> 5. PROCEDURES <br /> 5.1. A member desiring training reimbursement shall submit a"Training Reimbursement Request <br /> Form"(see appendix a)to the appropriate training officer no less than two weeks prior to <br /> beginning the course. <br /> 5.2. In consultation with appropriate division officers,the training officer shall take one of three <br /> actions regarding the request for reimbursement of funds and discuss the decision with the <br /> member no less than one week prior to the beginning of the course.The actions are: <br /> 5.21 approve as submitted, <br /> 5.2.2. modify the amount and approve,or <br /> 5.2.3. deny <br /> 5.3. Members wishing to be reimbursed for attending approved courses shall pay all tuition and/or <br /> registration fees for the course. <br /> 5.4. The member shall provide proof in documentation of successful completion of the course,and a <br /> copy of the completed"Training Reimbursement Request Form"(see appendix a)outlining the <br /> actual expenses incurred in taking the course,to the appropriate training officer. <br /> GEN-002 Training Reimbursement <br /> -Page 1 of 2- <br />
