SECTION Occupational Safety& Health <br /> STANDARD <br /> OPERATING S,O.G. No 405.03 <br /> GUIDELINES <br /> SUBJECT Eye and Face Protection <br /> 4, Chemical goggles, a face shield or other appropriate shielding will be <br /> utilized when working where corrosive materials may be splashed or <br /> spilled. <br /> 5. Safety glasses with side shields and/or face shield will be used when a <br /> member is executing any procedure that presents a reasonable <br /> opportunity for the occurrence of an eye injury outside of a safety <br /> glasses area. <br /> 6. The face shield on a turn out helmet are for secondary eye protection <br /> only. Safety glasses are to be worn with face shields. <br /> 7. The wearing of contact lenses will not be allowed by members <br /> handling, transferring or processing corrosive liquids. <br /> 8. Prescription safety glasses are allowed if they meat ANSI <br /> requirements. <br /> B. All TRT members will be fitted and trained in the proper use of the <br /> appropriate eye and face protection. <br /> 1. Eye and face protection will be regularly cleaned and inspected by the <br /> user. <br /> 2. Eye and face protection will be stored in a convenient and clean <br /> location. <br /> C. Members hosting visitors or serving as the site contact for contractors are <br /> responsible for assuring their guests are aware of and abide by this <br /> guideline. <br /> D. The TRT will engage in an eye and face protection program to identify and <br /> reduce or eliminate potentially harmful sources of hazards in the work <br /> place and on the emergency scene. <br /> Page 2 of 2 <br />
