SECTION Occupational Safety & Health <br /> STANDARD <br /> OPERATING S.O.G. No 405.03 <br /> GUIDELINES <br /> SUBJECT Eye and Face Protection <br /> I. PURPOSE. <br /> In the interest of TRT member's health and safety, this document is <br /> established for the wearing of proper eye and face protection while <br /> performing operations where there is a reasonable chance of injury. <br /> IL REFERENCES. <br /> A. Current edition of the National Fire Protection Association's 1500, <br /> "Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program". <br /> B. North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission Department Occupational <br /> Safety and Health Program for Fire Departments and Rescue Squads, <br /> Subpart L — Chapter 5, Protective Clothing and Protective Equipment, 5- <br /> 10, Eye and Face Protection, Subpart I Environmental, Personal <br /> Protective Equipment, 1910.133, Eye and Face Protection. <br /> C. Current edition of the American National Standard Institute's (ANSI) <br /> Z87.1-1989, Standard for Occupational and Educational Eye and Face <br /> Protection. <br /> III. OSHA REQUIREMENTS. <br /> A. The Technical Rescue Team tc )w provide members wih ith OSHA 910 1331 Eye and <br /> eye and face protection in the accordance <br /> Face Protection. <br /> IV. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT. <br /> A. Eye and face protection consist of but not limited to: <br /> 1. ANSI.Z87.1-1989 compliance safety glasses. <br /> 2. ANSI.Z87.1-1989 compliance goggles. <br /> V. PROCEDURE. <br /> A. Eye and face protection will be selected on the basis of hazards to which <br /> the member is exposed. <br /> 1. Areas requiring safety glasses will be designated by signs. <br /> 2. Eye and face protection is to be worn by all persons, including visitors <br /> when exposed to possible hazards to the eyes and/or face. <br /> 3. Proper face and eye protection will be worn when chipping, grinding, <br /> buffing, cleaning welds, or while performing any other operation where <br /> flying particles constitute an eye hazard. <br /> Page 1 of 1 <br />
