Training records will be maintained for each member. <br /> K. The TRT will be responsible for full implementation of the respiratory <br /> protection program. <br /> 1. The Assistant Chief—TRT will be responsible for ensuring this policy is <br /> maintained. <br /> 2. Failure to comply with any part of this guideline will result in <br /> progressive disciplinary action. <br /> L. Additional requirements for corrective lenses and/or contact lenses are: <br /> 1. Corrective lenses that have temple or straps should not be used when <br /> a full facepiece is worn. Frames that can be used with facepieces <br /> should be used. <br /> 2. Members who wear contact lenses will not be permitted in <br /> contaminated atmospheres. <br /> M. SCBAs and SABAs will be placed at stations, work areas and on vehicles <br /> for emergency use so they are accessible at all times. <br /> N. Members who are designated as rescue personnel will don SCBA or <br /> SABA while responding to the emergency or immediately upon arrival at <br /> the scene. <br /> 1. Rescue personnel will wear the SCBA or SABA according to the <br /> manufacturer's requirements and the requirements per this guideline. <br /> 2. Rescue personnel will operate in teams of two or more. <br /> a. Communication will be maintained between each team through <br /> visual, audible, physical, safety rope, electronic or any other means <br /> to stay in contact. <br /> b. Team members will stay close to one another to provide <br /> emergency assistance if needed. <br /> c. Team members will enter and leave together. <br /> 3. During an SCBA or SABA operation, at least one person will be <br /> assigned to remain outside the area where SCBA or SAGA is in use. <br /> This person is responsible for: <br /> a. Maintaining a constant knowledge of the number and identify of <br /> personnel using SCBA or SABA. <br /> b. Their location and function. <br /> c. Time of entry of the SCBA or SABA team(s). <br /> 4. Additional personnel with SCBA or SAGA will be on stand-by outside <br /> for emergency assistance. <br /> Page 4 of 9 <br />
