SECTION Occupational Safety& Health <br /> STANDARD <br /> OPERATING S.O.G. No: <br /> 402.03 <br /> GUIDELINES <br /> SUBJECT SABA Training <br /> I. PURPOSE. <br /> This standard applies to all members who are required to use supplied air <br /> breathing apparatus (SABA) as part of their normal duties. It was <br /> promulgated to: <br /> A. Maintain occupational proficiency in the use of SABA. <br /> B. Prevent accidents, injuries, and deaths that might result from exposure to <br /> a hazardous atmosphere. <br /> II. REFERENCES. <br /> A. Current edition of the National Fire Protection Association's 1500, <br /> "Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program". <br /> B. Current edition of the National Fire Protection Association's 1581, <br /> "Standard on Open Circuit Positive Pressure Breathing App <br /> C.Current edition of the National Fire Protection Association's 1404, <br /> "Standard for Fire Department Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus <br /> Program". <br /> D. North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission Department Occupational <br /> Safety and Health Program for Fire Departments and Rescue Squads, <br /> Subpart I, Environmental, 1910.134, Subpart L Fire Protection, 1910.156, <br /> Chapter 5 Protective Clothing and Protective Equipment 5-3, 5-3.1, 5-3.7, <br /> 5-3.9, and 5-3.10, and Subpart M Compressed Gases and Air, 1910.169. <br /> III. OSHA REQUIREMENTS. <br /> A. The TRT shall provide members with a respiratory protection program in <br /> accordance with OSHA 1910.134 th OSHA ea i1 gg of self-contained <br /> breathing apparatus in accordance ith <br /> IV. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT. <br /> A. NIOSH/MSHA and/or ANSI Z.88.2-1969 approved self-contained <br /> breathing apparatus (SCBA). <br /> V.
