PURPOSE <br /> 1.1. To establish guidelines for the interaction of the media and Squad members while on duty or in <br /> relation to any Squad activity. <br /> 2. POLICY <br /> 2.1. Personnel shall not talk to the media while on duty concerning Squad business or calls for <br /> service. <br /> 2,2. Members shall not give out any information that will give away the patient's identity such as <br /> name,address,social security number,date of birth,etc. <br /> 3. PROCEDURE <br /> 3.1, Media desiring information regarding EMS calls for service or patients shall be referred to the <br /> Orange County Emergency Management EMS Supervisor. <br /> 3,2. Media desiring information regarding Squad business shall be referred to the Chief or the <br /> appropriate Assistant Chief. <br /> 3.3, Personnel involved in an incident in which they believe that the media may be seeking <br /> information should contact the appropriate Assistant Chief,Chief and/or OCEM Supervisor to <br /> make them aware of the situation. <br /> GEN-037 Release of Information to the Media <br /> - 1 - <br />
