SECTION Emergency Operations <br /> STANDARD <br /> OPERATING S.O.G. No 603.01 <br /> GUIDELINES <br /> SUBJECT Rope Rescue <br /> 1 SCOPE. <br /> This guideline applies to Orange EMS and Rescue Squad, Inc. personnel <br /> that respond to rope rescues within the operational area. <br /> 2 PURPOSE. <br /> To expedite the response to an incident requiring rope rescue skills and <br /> equipment to perform the rescue with minimum risk to the rescuers and the <br /> subject. This may be a high-angle or low-angle rescue, roadside or <br /> wilderness. <br /> 3 REFERENCES. <br /> A. Current edition of the National Fire Protection Association's 1983, <br /> "Standard on Life Safety Rope and System Components". <br /> B. Current edition of the National Fire Protection Association's 1561, <br /> "Standard on Fire Department Incident Management System". <br /> C.Current edition of the National Fire Protection Association's 1972, <br /> "Standard for Helmets for Structural Fire Fighting". <br /> D.North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission Department Occupational <br /> Safety and Health Program for Fire Departments and Rescue Squads, <br /> Page 305ā5.8.1 ā Ropes, Harnesses and Hardware. <br /> E. North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission Department Occupational <br /> Safety and Health Program for Fire Departments and Rescue Squads, <br /> Subpart Lā Fire Protection, Chapter 6, Emergency Operations. <br /> 4 OSHA REQUIREMENTS. <br /> A.The TRT will provide members with proper training and education in the <br /> accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M (effective February <br /> 1995). <br /> 5 AUTHORITY. <br /> The rescue function is within the jurisdiction of Orange EMS and Rescue <br /> Squad, Inc. Rope rescue techniques require proper training, specialized <br /> equipment and techniques, and the ability to work as a team. The Technical <br /> Rescue Team is a Division of Orange EMS and Rescue Squad, Inc. that <br /> trains regularly and is equipped to provide state-of-the-art response to rope <br /> rescue incidents. <br /> Page 1 of 10 <br />
