SECTION Emergency Operations <br /> STANDARD <br /> OPERATING S.O.G. No 600.03 <br /> GUIDELINES <br /> SUBJECT Minimum TRT Standards <br /> D. Qualified Instructor: For scheduled training sessions, it is the policy of the <br /> Technical Rescue Team to use an instructor who is a Level 2 Instructor <br /> as defined in NFPA 1041 — Standard for Fire Service Instructor <br /> Professional Qualifications. This does not apply to requested group <br /> sessions conducted by a Technician, <br /> V. RESPONSIBILITY. <br /> A. Training Captain: The Training Captain is responsible for the performance <br /> levels of the Technical Rescue Team, and the Technical Rescue Team <br /> shall be capable of successfully performing all of the evolutions contained <br /> within this standard. Instruction on the required skills shall be provided on <br /> an annual basis. The Training Captain shall provide training twice each <br /> year for each of the Technical Rescue Team specialties: <br /> 1. Water Rescue <br /> 2. High Angle Rescue <br /> 3. Confined Space Rescue <br /> B. Training Lieutenant: The Training Lieutenant is responsible for the <br /> maintenance of training records in the manner prescribed by NFPA 1670. <br /> The Training Lieutenant is responsible for the scheduling of classes that <br /> are tested for Emergency Rescue Technician (ERT) credit. Technical <br /> Rescue Team members who desire to attend an outside class will arrange <br /> that through the Training Lieutenant. <br /> C. Technicians: The Technicians shall assist members in obtaining and <br /> maintaining proficiency in basic rescue skills and will provide small group <br /> training and technical assistance. <br /> D. Assistant Chief — Technical Rescue Team: The Assistant Chief — <br /> Technical Rescue Team shall require all Technical Rescue Team <br /> members to be evaluated by December of each year. <br /> VI. EVALUATION PROCEDURES. <br /> A. Technical Rescue Team evaluations are based on performance and time <br /> standards. <br /> 1. The Technical Rescue Team has established a maximum time limit to <br /> properly complete each evolution. <br /> 2. Performance is measured by observing the correct procedures and <br /> techniques established by the Technical Rescue Team. <br /> 3. Safety in all phases of an evolution is a prime consideration and shall <br /> not be compromised for speed. <br /> Page 2of2 <br />
