0-1-Command Structure <br /> North State Medical Transport will at all times operate with the use of a command structure. <br /> The North State Medical Transport organizational diagram indicates the basic command <br /> structure: See Organizational Chart ADENDUM A <br /> Should any question arise over chain of command when there are no supervisors or ranking staff <br /> members present, the employee of highest certification and tenure shall be the determining <br /> factor? <br /> 0-2-Safety <br /> 1. It will be the responsibility for all employees engaging in field operations to maintain <br /> safety as the utmost priority in any situation. <br /> 2. Any employee who witnesses the potential for an unsafe act shall immediately call this to <br /> the attention of those in harm's way. <br /> 0-3-Personal Protective Equipment <br /> 1. North State Medical Transport will make available personal protective equipment(PPE) <br /> in compliance with all directives from the Occupational Safety and Health <br /> Administration [OSHA 1926.28a1. <br /> 2. North State Medical Transport field staff shall utilize all protective equipment provided. <br /> Should they not have the necessary equipment; personnel should immediately notify a <br /> supervisor/management member and avoid any situation where its use would be <br /> indicated. <br /> 3. Issued PPE will include, but not be limited to, protective eyewear, respiratory protection, <br /> non-latex gloves, safety vests, etc. <br /> 4. North State Medical Transport employees shall wear no PPE in the course of work until <br /> they have been properly trained with the equipment [OSHA 1910.132.F.1]. <br /> 5. OSHA does allow an exemption for emergency situations if the employee is briefed on <br /> the PPE and accompanied by another trained person while it is in use. <br /> 6. All PPE shall be properly maintained and kept in sound working order at all times by the <br /> individual employee. <br /> 7. If any PPE is found to be unable to function as intended, the employee should <br /> immediately contact his/her supervisor or a management member for replacement. <br /> 8. All PPE should be stored properly when not in use. <br /> 9. For the purpose of this policy, on-duty shall be defined as any time that an employee is <br /> actively engaged in field operations, including special events. <br /> 10. Personnel will not be permitted to wear protective equipment that was not issued to them <br /> by North State Medical Transport without specific permission from the Director of <br /> Operations [OSHA 1910.132(b)]. <br /> 11. Employees wishing permission to use equipment not provided by North State Medical <br /> Transport should place a written request to the Director of Operations completely <br /> describing the need and the piece of equipment. <br /> 75 <br />
