Job Title: Dispatcher <br /> Class: Communication Technician <br /> Department: Operations <br /> Revised: April-2014 <br /> FLSA: Non-exempt <br /> Pay Range: $11.50 to $19.00 <br /> (This job description supersedes any prior description for the Dispatcher.) <br /> GENERAL DESCRIPTION <br /> Answers phone calls, schedules and dispatches transports, and serves as initial customer <br /> information resource. This job is the company's primary connection to the population it serves, <br /> and is designed to be a liaison between management and the public. <br /> ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS <br /> (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all <br /> tasks which may be found in positions of this class.) <br /> 1. Answers phone calls. <br /> 2. Receives requests for transports and schedules transports based on the availability of <br /> ambulances throughout the day, as well as for future days. <br /> 3. Assigns crew members to vehicles and dispatches them for transports according to their <br /> availability. <br /> 4. Monitors unit locations and status through available monitoring systems. <br /> 5. Advises customers when delays arise <br /> 6. Directs customer and employee questions to the appropriate member of management. <br /> 7. Operates dispatch computer and all dispatch program software, i.e. Zoll Data Dispatch <br /> program and Fleet Direct Teletrac GPS software. <br /> 8. Maintains the incident number log book, as well as entering transports into the book and <br /> giving the numbers to the pertinent crew members. <br /> 9. Oversees end of day functions of the ambulance crews, i.e. chart completion, logs, <br /> cleaning trucks, and clocking out. <br /> 10. Responsible for checking crew schedule to manage the number of trucks available and <br /> which crew to assign to which truck. <br /> 11. Reports to Communications Supervisor. <br /> 12. Basic keyboard and mouse skills. <br /> 13. Verifies completion of patient care paperwork <br /> 14. Makes appropriate notifications when documentation errors or omissions are found to <br /> assure compliance. <br /> 15. Scans patient paperwork and attaches to correct chart in the EMS-Charts system. <br /> 16. Verifies correct scanning and attachment of patient paperwork in the EMS-Charts system. <br /> 17. Gives transportation price quotes to customers requesting services. <br /> 53 <br />
