Ability to prepare ambulance call reports and other reports using appropriate grammar, <br /> medical terminology and abbreviations, and to write legibly. <br /> 2. Ability to perfoiui blood pressureā€žmedical documents, distinguishes colors, and exercise <br /> full field of vision while working. <br /> 3. Ability to exercise independent judgment in determining the appropriate medical <br /> treatment of a patient according to existing protocols and standards of care per the <br /> employee's level of certification. <br /> 4. Ability to operate an ambulance for long periods of time in congested traffic and in <br /> unsafe road conditions caused by factors such as fog, rain, ice, and snow. <br /> 5. Ability to communicate effectively and coherently. <br /> 6. Ability to perform medical care and other duties which may involve lifting, carrying <br /> patients over uneven surfaces, climbing up to and down from elevated surfaces, carrying <br /> equipment and patients down steps. <br /> 7. Ability to effectively communicate when confronted with views and opinions of patients, <br /> family members and facility staff in an antagonistic environment. <br /> 8. Ability to operate medical equipment properly within their scope of training. <br /> 9. Ability to resolve problems in order to complete daily duties. <br /> PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS <br /> 1. Work includes sitting,walking, running,bending, stooping and lifting weights in excess <br /> of 250 lbs with assistance. <br /> 2. Work includes both indoor and outdoor activity where employee is exposed to elements <br /> of nature: cold, hot, rain, snow, sleet, ice, etc. <br /> 3. Employee must be able to maneuver in tight places, climb ladders or stairs, step over <br /> obstacles, step on and off machinery, etc. <br /> 4. Work includes operation of a motor vehicle. <br /> EXPOSURE CONTROL <br /> Work may cause direct contact with blood or other potentially infectious pathogens which <br /> universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is available and must be worn,thus <br /> the work is subject to the OSHA requirements for blood borne pathogens f <br /> MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING <br /> 1. High school graduation or GED. <br /> 2. Certification as Emergency Medical Technician by North Carolina with one year of <br /> experience as an EMT preferred. <br /> 3.
