H-56-JOB DESCRIPTIONS <br /> Job Title: Emergency Medical Technician <br /> Class: Technician <br /> Department: Operations <br /> Revised: April-2014 <br /> FLSA: Non-exempt <br /> Pay Range: $11.50 to $20.00 <br /> [This job description supersedes any prior description for the EMT.) <br /> GENERAL DESCRIPTION <br /> Work involves transporting patients to and from doctor's offices, residences, nursing facilities, <br /> hospitals and various other medical facilities. Assess the medical needs of the sick or injured and <br /> provide medical care for those in need of help. Once this assessment takes place, they perform <br /> whatever medical assistance is needed as long as it's within the scope of their training. <br /> ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS <br /> (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all <br /> tasks which may be found in the position.) <br /> 1. Maintain OEMS and CPR required certifications. See policy H-11 through H-17 for <br /> credentialing requirements. <br /> 2. Maintain NCDL. See policy H-11 through H-17 for credentialing requirements. <br /> 3. Maintain eligibility to participate in all Federal and State healthcare programs. <br /> 4. Responds to calls; transports patients; loads and unloads patient; transports patient to or <br /> from residences and medical facilities; completes call report. <br /> 5. Provides the necessary care and treatment of the patient to include cardiopulmonary <br /> resuscitation, suctioning, bandaging, splinting, administering oxygen and other skills <br /> within the scope of their training, etc. <br /> 6. Inspects ambulance regarding supplies, drugs, equipment, safety gear, tools, maps, and <br /> paperwork and function ability of all equipment, lights, tires, belts and fluid levels; <br /> washes ambulance. <br /> 7. Cleans inside of ambulance after each call; changes linen on stretcher and restocks <br /> supplies used on call. <br /> 8. Studies street and road patterns and networks of County in direct relationship to each call <br /> to insure prompt response with minimal difficulty and delay. <br /> 9. Communicates with hospital, during each call using proper radio etiquette. <br /> 10. Keeps in contact with dispatch and maintain statue update information on calls <br /> 11. Precepts and trains new employees on various aspects of their job duties <br /> 12. Maintains logs various logs, medical charting attends training on job specific topics. <br /> 13. Complies with all policies on Compliance, Documentation, BBP, and HIPAA <br /> OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS <br /> 44 <br />
