Policy on Patient Confidentiality <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> NSMT is committed to protecting patient privacy. This Policy shall govern the storage, use and <br /> disclosure of any patient information. <br /> POLICY <br /> A.To ensure that all patient information remains confidential,NSMT employees, managers and owners are <br /> required to comply with all federal privacy regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability & <br /> Accountability Act (HIPAA) as well as all applicable state privacy statutes that are not contrary to the <br /> HIPAA regulations. <br /> B. To comply with the HIPAA regulation, NSMT has adopted specific policies and procedures related to <br /> the HIPAA Privacy Rule and Physical and Technical Security Rule. These policies govern NSMT <br /> actions with regard to protecting the privacy of all patient information. <br /> C. Questions related to NSMT's HIPAA Compliance Program should be directed to the Compliance <br /> Officer. <br /> For additional information regarding NSMT HIPAA Compliance please refer to the North State Medical <br /> Transport HIPAA Compliance Manual. <br /> POLICY REVIEW <br /> The NSMT Compliance Officer will review and update this Policy and all Compliance policies when <br /> necessary in the normal course of its review of the NSMT Compliance Program. <br /> 6 <br />
