An exception to this rule can be made when a source with the patient indicates that such <br /> equipment is not necessary. <br /> 3. Any additional equipment in which a need has been identified should be taken in upon <br /> arrival. <br /> 4. The attendant shall assume the primary responsibility for patient assessment and <br /> treatment on a call as well as all related documentation and reporting. <br /> 5. The driver shall be responsible for confirming the vehicle is in a state of readiness after <br /> each call. <br /> 6. Both crew members are responsible for ensuring their unit is clean, sanitized and <br /> restocked. <br /> 7. Day to day operations of crews is not a specific responsibility of one crew member or the <br /> other but rather the joint responsibility of both driver and attendant. <br /> 8. The vehicle should be ready to answer a call at all times. <br /> 9. Paramedics shall be the lead attendant in regard to final patient treatment. <br /> 10. ALS and BLS staff shall share patient care responsibilities. <br /> 0-13-Transport Criteria <br /> Refer to NCOEMS patient care Protocol and Procedures for additional guidance regarding <br /> treatment and transport. <br /> 1. Cardiac arrest patients should be transported to the nearest hospital. <br /> 2. Hospitals on diversion—North State Medical Transport dispatching staff should be <br /> notified for further transport instructions. <br /> 3. The attendant will contact the receiving hospital as early as possible in the transport <br /> sequence. <br /> 4. A brief radio notification should be given to the receiving hospital: <br /> A. Estimated time of arrival <br /> B. Patient Age <br /> C. Patient Sex <br /> D. Reason for Transport <br /> E. Vital Signs <br /> 5. The receiving facility staff should be made aware of the patient's arrival, belongings <br /> transported, paperwork and appropriate signatures should be obtained. <br /> 6. All signatures shall be acquired and witnessed by a third party whenever possible. <br /> 7. North State Medical Transport units clearing a hospital will return to service for the <br /> return of hospital personnel or equipment to the original location and dispatch staff <br /> should be notified of this diversion. <br /> 0-14—Deceased Patients <br /> North State Medical Transport Protocols and Procedures identify the indications and procedures <br /> for the management of deceased subjects. <br /> 83 <br />
