k fin 50 <br /> RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PASSAGE OF THE <br /> NORTH CAROLINA CLEAN WATER BOND REFERENDUM <br /> WHEREAS, the population of this County is increasing steadily and becoming <br /> more urbanized, creating a constantly rising demand for water and <br /> threatening to overtax the capacity of supply systems; and, <br /> WHEREAS, adequate wastewater systems to serve the increasing population are <br /> essential to protect the quality of water in our lakes and streams; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, adequate water and wastewater facilities are necessary for protecting <br /> public health as well as for the economic expansion needed to provide <br /> new jobs for the growing population, and to augment the wages of the <br /> existing population; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Federal funding for water and wastewater facilities is being severely <br /> reduced, and remaining State Clean Water Bond funds will soon be <br /> depleted; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the State of North Carolina proposes a referendum on additional <br /> Clean Water Bonds which would help local governments avoid the <br /> higher interest rates on local bond issues; <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> strongly supports passage of the North Carolina Clean Water Bond <br /> Referendum, and encourages its municipalities to do likewise; and, <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Orange County encourages State officials to proceed <br /> without undue delay with plans, and to schedule the referendum for <br /> the next Statewide election. <br /> THIS, the 26th day of April, 1,982. <br /> f . <br /> !'" /"-e-T•prT•77510%,./ <br /> • CHARD E.
