Stat. §69-25.1 a petition has <br /> been submitted to the Board of County Commissioners of Orange County for <br /> the establishment of the D[}mSCU5 FIRE DISTRICT and for the calling of an <br /> election in the said District for the purpose of submitting to the <br /> qualified voters therein the question of levying and collecting a special <br /> tax on all taxable property in said District, of not exceeding fifteen <br /> cents ($ .15 on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) valuation of property <br /> for the purpose of providing fire protection in said District; and <br /> WHEREAS as required by N.C. Gen. Stat. §69-25'1 , the said <br /> petition for the DEHASCUS FIRE DISTRICT has been signed by fifteen <br /> percent (l}%) of the resident freeholders living in the said District; and <br /> WHEREAS the Board of County Commissioners has consulted with <br /> the Orange County Board of Elections with respect to a date for the <br /> election aforementioned; <br /> IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED as follows: <br /> 1. The Orange County Board of Elections is respectfully <br /> directed to hold and conduct an election in the n[MASCVS FIRE DISTRICT <br /> for the purpose of determining those in Favor and those against levying <br /> a tax in said District for fire protection therein. Said election shall <br /> be held pursuant to the relevant provisions of N.C. Gen, Stat, §69-25-1 <br /> at seq and N.C. Gen. Stat. §163-1 at seq. <br /> 2. The date and time for the election set out above shall <br /> be on the earliest date possible pursuant to the North Carolina General <br /> Statutes. <br /> 3. The Orange County Board of Elections shall cause a notice <br /> to be published in the Chapel Hill Newspaper within the time required by <br /> the North Carolina General Statutes, advertising the said election as <br /> provided by law and advertising the fact that all unregistered voters <br /> in the said District must register within the time permitted by law <br /> in order to be eligible to vote in the said elections. <br /> 4. The Orange County Attorney shall cause a copy of this <br /> resolution to be delivered to the Orange County Board of Elections by <br /> delivering same to its Executive Secretary. • <br />
