Vote:
Ayes, 5; noes, O.
The Board discussed at length the Class A Special Use Permit request
from Buck Mountain Development Company for the Airport. There were questions
from the Board as to whether or not the proposed airport met the FAA require-
ments for a general aviation airport or the requirements set forth for such
airports under the Orange County Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Fred Hazard, of Buck
Mountain Development Company, told the Board his company would meet all FAA
standards for a general aviation airport and that he has a letter from Mr.
Bruce Matthews stating that the proposed airport does meet those FAA standards.
The County Attorney told the Board it could not consider any evidence not pre-
sented at the public hearing.
The Board noted its continued concern regarding the financial stability
of the airport without the airpark. Planning Staff said the airport, as
presented at the Public Hearing on March 8, 1982, does not meet the FAA
standards for a public facility airport. Chairman Whitted said the plan,
as submitted at the Public Hearing on March 8, 1982, does not meet the stand-
ards of the Zoning Ordinance; Mr' Polatty, Planning Director, agreed.
