00934 <br /> Irvin read Mr. Bruce Matthews letter concerning FAA standards. <br /> Irvin feld the proposal might get approval for private airport, <br /> but not meet FAA standards, and could not get federal <br /> fundings in the future if that proves to be necessary. <br /> Mehler agreed to modify the findings of fact to reflect <br /> Matthews letter <br /> Kizer feld that location criteric is important because we <br /> are talking abouth two airports and not one. Its got <br /> to have accessibile buildings and an area which can <br /> service the county. <br /> Hazard stated that we need FAA standards to make the airport <br /> safe. <br /> Irvin moved for Planning Staff to recommend to the County <br /> Commissionem for the request of the Special Use Permit <br /> for General Aviation Airport be denied and the Findings <br /> of Facts be based on Mr. Bruce Matthews, North Carolina <br /> Department of Transportation letter. There is indication <br /> that present design standards deviate from the current FAA <br /> standards in several respects as to Matthews letter states. <br /> Gordon seconded, <br /> Wilson feels 2,000 feet setback off runway is sufficient. <br /> Shanklin brought information to the Board concerning proposed <br /> rules by FAA standards, <br /> 5 <br />
