t <br /> U 8 5 <br /> ;-, <br /> Below are the remarks that John Gastineau will be giving to the Orange <br /> Ar <br /> County Commissioners at their regular meeting on 4ave-41 2-2, 1982 at 10:00 a.m. <br /> My name is John Gastineau, and I am Chairman of the Economic Development <br /> Committee of the Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce. The <br /> goals for this committee during 1982 are as follows: <br /> -Develop a strategy for creating, through and with the Chamber, a leadership <br /> role and capacity for the purpose of bringing together the local governments <br /> to address and deal with: <br /> 1. Relationship with the North Carolina Industrial Division. <br /> 2. Growth policies. <br /> 3. Method of greeting prospects and showing our area. <br /> 4. Development of necessary collateral materials. <br /> During our fiscal year of 1981, the Chamber attempted to address the <br /> problem of economic development in southern Orange County and to get community <br /> leaders and government officials thinking about the benefits of controlled, <br /> qua.LiLy :vL 'JUL aw.1 uLly pis-y=L wuy i L OUIJU1U LJC <br /> handled. We first had a joint meeting of our government officials in April <br /> to discuss this important topic. At that meeting, we also had a speaker <br /> from the North Carolina Industrial Development Division giving his experience <br /> as to how we go about organizing for economic development. <br />
