• <br /> •I <br /> ENO TAC <br /> NOVEMaER 10, 1981 <br /> Page 2 <br /> • <br /> RECOMMENDATXON # 8 <br /> Luce noted the activity nodes in the area, explained the character of <br /> the corridor and highlighted the compromise of the recommendation. <br /> Barbour inquired about Carrboro's proposed industrial area and expressed <br /> concern that the designated activity nodes not be poured in concrete. <br /> Smith explained that these nodes can be altered or added to through <br /> an amendment process: Woods indicated that landowners in the Propdsed <br /> Industrial Suitablity Area were not willing to sell their land. <br /> Woods asked if the Rural Buffer was Chapel Will's greenbelt, and expressed <br /> concern that that area would experience the same problems as British <br /> greenbelts.- <br /> - • <br /> RECOmMENDATION # 9 <br /> Barbour inquired as to why.we were being so restrictive in our recOmmenda- <br /> tions. ' Luce indicated that many identified sites were not <br /> really explored, just noted. Woods expressed concern that ten years ago <br /> people had said the same thing about the Jordan Lake Reservoir. <br /> Barbour noted the duckweed problem in Orange Lake. <br /> • <br /> Barbour expressed concern that the extent of land covered by the proposed <br /> recommendations, Luce noted that physiography of the County determined <br /> the area, not politics or the Planning Staff. <br /> Barbour felt that projections for water supply needs was based On growth <br /> in the southern portion of the County. Luce noted the recommendation not <br /> to allow interbasin transfers of water except in emergency situations. <br /> He indicated that past transfers had always;;occurred during drought periods. <br />
