" <br /> VOTE: Unanimous <br /> Shanklin felt the Board should urge the Commissioners to act as <br /> quickly as possible in this to remove the moratoroum, especially <br /> in the Upper Eno Waterhsed. <br /> AGENDA ITEM # 6:ARIPORT NEED STUDY: <br /> Luce gave a brief presentation on the Airport Need Study. <br /> Crawford addressed the question of saturation relative to dem- <br /> and and facilities expansion. <br /> Shanklin noted taxes remain where an airport is located and <br /> planes based. <br /> Wilson felt some return would be appropriate for the taxpayer. <br /> Crawford inquired how many planes would relocate from RDU to <br /> a new airport in the County. <br /> The Board reviewed Table 7 and Table 10. <br /> Crawford asked what impact the traffic controllers strike has <br /> had. <br /> Shanklin indicated it cut down on short range commercial, flights. <br /> Crawford asked if there was an increase in general aviation at <br /> RDU. Shanklin responded VFR flights increased and responded <br /> affirmatively. <br /> Kizer noted airports are not like summing pools, that everyone <br /> must have one. <br /> Luce cited the conclusion on p. 8 indicating on RDU deficiency <br /> area. <br />
