066•15
393 -
Mr. Irvin: How many repetitive runs are involved in a training flight?
There's not just one take-off and landing.
Mr. Mehler: Perhaps not; no one knows.
Planning Board /venter Alice Gordon.: We on the Planning Board recently
endorse the NEF 25 contour; could you address that?
Mr. Mehler: I would like to take Mr. Matthews': assumptions as the basis
for a response. He assumed 50 flights per day; we anticipate 30-35 initially.
He assumed a 50% useage in each direction. With those assumptions plus that of - - -
only the small planes landing there, the expected NEF contours are entirely
within our boundaries; there is no need to amend the Zoning Ordinance. The NEF
25 contours are entirely within our boundaries.
Planning Board Member Steve Kizer: What is the maximum height of the
structures allowed near the airport?
Mr. Mehler: Two stories.
Mr. Kizer: Based on some quick calculations, your water tower will be
about 85-90 meters, or about 250'. It will be too high.
Mr. Mehler: I don't have a response; we have done no engineering on it.
Chairman Whitted: You mention the symbiotic relationship of the airport
and airpark. How much of the airpark will have to be developed to make this a
viable concern?
Mr. Mehler: The main point is maintenance. Borderline development is
not done very often. The airpark is for the maintenance of the airport.
Commissioner Gustaveson: The point is how much of this park will have
to be developed according to your ten year financing plan in order to break even?
Mr. Mehler: I'll have to ask the developer.
Mr. Hazard: We feel 50% of the airpark completed Within 36-48 months will
enable us to make money. 4
There were no further questions from the Boards; Chairman Whitted opened
the floor for public comment. All persons were sworn by Chairman Whitted at
the beginning of this session.
Mr. Edward Johnson: Appeared as both the President of the Orange Rural
Volunteer Fire Department and as a citizen of the Bingham TOwnship. Mr. Johnson
reiterated the concerns of the Fire Department as outlined in his letter (attaCh-
ed to these Minutes on pages of this book) .
