Ordinance requires: Findings: <br /> 5.2 Guide growth to achieve a <br /> maximum amount of infill development <br /> in the urbanizing areas of the <br /> County while maintaining the integrity <br /> of the existing and future open space <br /> and recreational system. The purpose o <br /> infill will be to minimize sprawled <br /> development and promote a more compact <br /> urban form. Secondary.purposes will <br /> be to reduce transportation energy <br /> costs in addition to reducing <br /> public services costs. The Chapel <br /> Hill Township component of the Land <br /> Use Plan will be based on the <br /> assumption that 75% of the suitable <br /> vacant land in the Towns' existing <br /> urban area will be developed; however <br /> the goal will be to achieve 100% <br /> 1f'll <br /> ,..Ill. <br /> ! ect intensive land uses to <br /> existing urban areas and areas de- <br /> signated Transition Areas and away <br /> from areas suitable for continued <br /> agricultural uses and protected as <br /> water supply watersheds. <br /> 510. Designate land in areas where <br /> the prevailing land use activities <br /> consist of agriculture and forestry <br /> and which should continue in these <br /> uses as Agricultural Residential. <br /> 5.11 Designate activity nodes of <br /> various types and functions at the <br /> intersections of major arterials and <br /> collectors in order to accomodate <br /> different intensity levels of <br /> commercial and industrial development <br /> 5.17 Designate land focused on <br /> designated road intersections within <br /> Rural Residential or Agricultural- <br /> Residential areas that is appropriate <br /> for small scale commercial uses as <br /> Rural Neighborhood activity nodes. <br /> GOAL SIX: The promotion of economic <br /> development which emphasizes employ- <br /> ment meeting local needs while preset <br /> ing the character of communities <br /> and protecting the natural environmer <br />
