0061..4
8LI)
of 1,000' beyond the runways?
Mr. Mehler: FAA and DOT have accepted our plans; approach surfaces
are either in land "that is owned or under option as far as I know." FAA did
not bring up the question of land ownership in the south so I don't know.
You'll have to ask Mr. Hazard.
Mr. Irvin: So you do have easements which will permit you to control
the growth of trees and construction of buildings?
Mt. Mehler: I suppose so; Mr. Hazard would know.
Mt. Fred Hazard of the Buck Mountain Development Company was sworn by
Chairman Whitted: On the south we do have the easement; on the north we have
200'. The 1,000 isn't a requirement, I think; I don't know, Dr. Irvin, if
your figure of a 1,000' easement is correct.
Mr. Willer: "As far as I know, we are in compliance with DOT stand-
ards and FAA standards as well."
Mr. Irvin: Are you planning to empty the approximately 130,000 gallons
of sewage effluent into Collins Creek?
Mr. Mehler: That would be an absolute maximum. We based figures on
, .
the maximum capacity of the development. The treatment we propose is a tertiary
one controlled under the most rigid standards of the State. The effluent will
be clean. According to our engineers, this amount of effluent is less than
would be expected from a subdivision of comparable size.
Mr. Irvin: How do you plan to get the necessary water pressure for the
fire hydrants?
Mr. Mehler: A tower is proposed in order to maintain a constant pres-
sure.
Mr. Irvin: Waht is the height of your water tower?
Mr. Mehler: We don't know yet; the size planned, 50,000 gallons is
small, but normal for auxiliary services.
Mr. Irvin: Don't you need to know the height because of approaches?
Mr. Mellen Yes, but not now, at this stage.
Mr. Irvin: How many training flights are expected?
Mr. Hazard: We don't know.
Mr. Mehier: We are assuming 300 flights per month for about two years
and then about 1,000 flights per month; most of those are transient flights.
