UU518 <br /> MINUTES <br /> MARCH 1, 1982 <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, <br /> March 1, 1982, at 10:00 A.M. in the Commissioners' Room, Orange County Courthouse, <br /> Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br /> Commissioners present: Chairman Richard E. Whitted, and Commissioners Norm <br /> Gustaveson, Shirley E. Marshall, Norman Walker and Don Willhoit. <br /> A. Comments fLum the Board: <br /> Commissioner Willhoit added correspondence on out óf district tuition charged <br /> by the School Boards; Oonnissioner Gustaveson added an item on the Capital BPAlth <br /> Systems Agency. <br /> B. Comments from the Audience: <br /> Chairmen Whitted recognized Representative Anne Barnes who announced that the <br /> County had received a grant for $6,000 fLaathe State Department on Pging to aid <br /> in the renovation of the Northside Multipurpose Center. Commissioner Gustaveson <br /> recognized two citizens from the churches in Chapel Fill who are monitoring the <br /> Board friee-tings. The County Manager introduced the new Finance Director, Mr. Wallace <br /> Harding, to the Board. <br /> C. Minutes: <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit, to approve <br /> the Minutes of October 29, 1981, as suhmitted. Vote: Ayes,5 ; noes, 0. <br /> Commissioner Gustaveson moved, seconded by CommissiOner-Whitted, to approve <br /> the Minutes of December 7, 1981, as submitted. Vote: Ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> Commissioner Whitted moved, seconded by Commissioner Walker,to approve the <br /> Minutes of December 15, 1981, as submitted. Vote: Ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> Commissioner Marshall moved, seconded by Commissioner Gustaveson, to approve <br /> the Minutes of December 21, 1981, as submitted. Vote: Ayes, 5; noes, 0. <br /> D. Reports: <br /> 1. Dr. Mike Simmons presented a brief report to the Board on the Exception <br /> Child program. He detailed the level of service for the Board, that is, twenty- <br /> four children are being served now with the number increasing to one hundred once the <br /> children are identified. Drs. Simmons and Lansford noted the level of funding from <br /> the Federal Government was decreasing and therefore the number of teachers in this <br /> area would decrease from the previous year.
