• 7
CURRENT PLANNING
WORK OBJECTIVES MANDATED BY STATE OR LOCAL LAWS (OJBECTIVES 1-11)
WORK OBJECTIVE 1: EDUCATE AND PROVIDE INFORMATION TO DEVELOPERS,
REALTORS, ATTORNEYS, SURVEYORS AND THE GENERAL
PUBLIC BY HANDOUTS AND CONFERENCES
6 MONTH REPORT:
We continually provide information to County citizens concerning
all of the Land Development Codes (Subdivision, Zoning, Flood
Plain, Land Use, and Building Inspections). There are at least
20 telephone calls, or walk-in visitors each day, In the past
6 months we had conversations with about 2,000 people about
Subdivisions and Special Use Permits, Flood Ordinance.
• PROJECTIONS FOR THE NEXT 6 MONTHS:
We will produce within the next six months a brief handout that
summerizes the new zoning ordinance. This along with existing
forms and applications should simplify our educational tasks.
We will probably have about 2,100 conversations about subdivision,
rezoning, and special uses in any given six month period,
WORK OBJECTIVE 2: REVIEW AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS ABOUT ALL
SUBDIVISION PROPOSALS AND REZONING REQUESTS
AT MONTHLY PLANNING BOARD MEETINGS AND AT
THE FOUR QUARTERLY PUBLIC HEARINGS
6 MONTH REPORT:
The land development codes require that the Planning Staff make
recommendations on subdivision and rezoning requests. There
were 6 Commissioners meetings. There were 3 Public Hearings
and 12 Planning Board meetings in the last 6 months.
We reviewed a total of 10 major subdivisions through the
preliminary process, with a total of 44 lots. There were 5
rezoning proposals and 3 special use permits. We also reviewed
43 minor subdivisions with a total of 56 lots.
• PROJECTIONS FOR NEXT 6 MONTHS:
There should be 9 Planning Board meetings and 6 Commissioners
meetings in the next 6 months. There should also be 3 Public
Hearings. We anticipate 11 major subdivisions and about 50
minor subdivisions, with 8 rezonings and 4 special use permit
requests.
WORK OBJECTIVE 3: PROVIDE STAFF FOR THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT,
6 MONTH REPORT:
The Board of Adjustment usually meets 1 time per month. For
the past year they have not had to meet every month. However,
staff feels that with the new zoning Ordinance there may be
