Co <br /> Attachment(s): Paulette Pridgen-Pond <br /> . - Informatio ntact: • . _ <br /> No Phone amber: 732-8181 ext. 510 - , <br /> PURPOSE: To Proclaim the week of February 21st School Bus Safety Week <br /> in Orange County, <br /> DEED: <br /> The Town of Chapel Hill Mayor's Assistant, Ms. Rosemary Waldorf, <br /> contacted this office this week to ascertain Board interest in <br /> a joint proclamation with the Towns of Carrboro, Chapel Hill <br /> and Orange County, in favor of School Bus Safety this week <br /> in Orange County. <br /> The Chairman indicated that the Board of Commissioners would <br /> certainly join in such a Proclamation. <br /> Commissioner Board Vice-chairman Gustaveson will make the <br /> proclamation on Tuesday Morning at the Frank Porter Graham <br /> School on behalf of Orange County and in conjunction with <br /> the two mayors. <br /> "We the Mayors of Chapel Hill and Carrboro and the Vice-Chairman <br /> of the Orange County Commissioners do hereby proclaim the <br /> week of February 21-27, 1982, to be School Bus Safety Week. <br /> We all wish to express the importance of providing training for <br /> both riders and drivers and to impress upon them the need <br /> for being courteous and helpful to each other while riding <br /> or operating our school buses. <br /> And we wish to call attention to the importance of cooperation <br /> by parents, teachers and students and to urge all those con- <br /> cerned to work together diligently to insure that necessary <br /> safety precautions are taken throughout the school year. <br /> This 16th day of February, 1982. <br /> Norm Gustaveson <br /> • <br /> - - Mayor Drakeford <br /> Mayor Nassif <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Endorse the proclamation issued by Commissioner Gustaveson <br /> on behalf of the Board. <br />
