Mation carried with Kizer, Gordon, Cleary, <br /> Harris, Wilson, teeelo, Lunsford, Irvin in favor and Bacon <br /> abstained. <br /> Agenda Item #4 Consideration of the Water Task. Force Report. <br /> Luce suggested that the Board consider each of the revanmanda• <br /> tians in the Water Task Force Report. <br /> Recommendation #1 <br /> 4,11) Policy on minimizing outflows of water fromlone major basin tc <br /> another. Luce described the three major basins in Orange Cour <br /> and the transfers of water which now take place either on a , <br /> day-to-day basis or in water emergency situation. He said tha <br /> there was concern an the part of some Task Force members that <br /> water transfers feenreethern Orange to southern Orange could <br /> become more coo= to the detriment of water users in the <br /> Hillsborough area. <br /> Dan Cox, a member of the audience, said that during recent <br /> droughts, the Eno River was very low and Hillsborough did not <br /> have excess water to give to southern Orange County. He <br /> expressed concern that the emergency line between Hillsbaprougt <br /> and Chapel Hill would be tapped into for day-to-day use. <br /> Wilson expressed concern that Alamance County was receiving <br /> northern Orange County water while the policy- would deny soutl <br /> Orange County the qeme water. <br /> Kizer motioned that the Board of Commissioners adopt reconeend <br /> tion number one of the Water Task Force. Wilson seconded. <br /> Motion carried with one abstention Gordon. <br /> Pecolarethatican #2 <br /> 411 <br /> Allocation of water teen Lake Orange. Luce said that the watt <br /> from Lake Orange is owned by the County but not allocated to <br /> anyone. Luce seid that this remminendation is tied to the fi/ <br /> reaxanendation in that it says the water in Lake Orange shoulc <br /> stay in the use Resin_ <br />
