Baker <br /> (NONE) <br /> Phone Number: 929-8109 <br /> ..• • <br /> Purpose: To inform the Board of Commisioners of steps taken by OCEMS to <br /> provide Advanced Life Support county-wide at the EMI-Intermediate <br /> level; and to present policies and procedures developed <br /> by OCEMS for the administration of such service. <br /> Need: <br /> To meet the requirements of the North Carolina Office of Emergency <br /> Medical Services and the Sponsor Hospital; and to develp a <br /> mechanism for proper administration of Advanced Life Support on <br /> a county-wide basis. <br /> ' Note: Board of Commisioners meeting of December 16, 1980 <br /> approved recommendation to proceed with negotiations <br /> for North Carolina Memorial Hospital to become the <br /> Sponsor Hospital for Orange County. <br /> June 8, 1.981 a proposal for the provision of Advanced <br /> Life Support on a county-wide basis was submitted to <br /> and aporoved by NC Office of Emergency Medical Services. <br /> (re: ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT TRAINING PROGRAM PROPOSAL. FOR <br /> ORANGE COUNIX EMS, REGION J, NCMH, dated June 1, 1981; <br /> a joint effort of NCMH and Orange County Government.) <br /> July 30, 1981 OCEMS/NC M ALS Training program began. <br /> December 3, 1981 19 additional EMT-Intermediates certified <br /> by the State. <br /> Impact: Improve pre-hospital patient care; provide an on-going education & <br /> training program; and consolidate EMS training & operation on a <br /> county-wide basis, <br /> Recommendation(s) : Recommend that the Board adopt and/or approve OCEMS <br /> Advanced Life Support Policies & Procedures if the Board so desires. <br />
