Conduct the continued public hearing and accept comment on the proposed
amendments;
2. Close the public hearing;
3. Deliberate on the petition as desired; and
4. Decide on one of the following options:
a. Adopt the proposed amendments by approving the Statement of Consistency
(Attachment 2) and Ordinance (Attachment 3);
b. Defer a decision to a later BOCC regular meeting date;
c. Refer the item back to the Planning Board for a specific purpose; Deny the
proposed amendments.
(Note: Section 2.2.8 Effect of Denial on Subsequent Applications of the UDO states that no
application for the same or similar amendment may be submitted for a period of one year. The
one-year period begins on the date of denial.)
Planning Board member Tony Blake said he had nothing to add.
Chris Cole, Orange County resident, said he spoke at the previous Quarterly Public
Hearing (QPH), and thanked the Board for making these changes. He said this is a huge step
in the right direction. He said he is a certified public accountant, and his familiar with this area.
He suggested the removal of four more items from the list of permitted uses: 3169, 3219,
3261, and 3262.
Commissioner Jacobs said he appreciated the Planning Board members being present.
Commissioner Jacobs said he does not understand some of the list of permitted uses.
He referred to page 84, and asked planning staff if Emergency Services has reviewed this list,
which includes some highly flammable items. He said he also has concerns about Polystyrene
Foam products.
Commissioner Jacobs said he also does not known what some of these products are,
and he is uncomfortable approving anything until he is better informed.
Commissioner Jacobs suggested giving the BOCC a week to review/pull items that they
do not understand or do not want on this list. He said this all relates to item 6e, the North
American Industry Classification System (NAICS), about which he has no understanding.
