112
•
_ _ 411
Considerable effort has been made to inform and involve
as many of the Township's residents as possible, as
well as other interested parties, in the process of
updating the Plan. Since the reactivation of Township
Advisory Councils (TACs) on a County wide basis in
March 1986, fourteen TAC and public information
meetings have been held in Bingham Township dealing
with the Plan, update and other land use issues.
The Planning Department has compiled and analyzed data
on soils, topography, hydrology, land use,
transportation, and public safety in the study area.
This information, in part, provides the basis for
identifying planning issues and concerns in the area.
The overriding concerns are growth and water quality.
Major differences between the 1981 and 1987 Bingham
Township components of the Land Use Element are
summarized on the following sheet.
On November 4, 1987, the Bingham TAC endorsed the
Bingham Township component as recommended by Staff.
One addition, to reclassify a Duke Forest tract as
Public Interest District in order to create consistency 411
with other Township components, has been made since
that time.
RECOMMENDATION: The Planning Staff recommends approval of the amended
text and map and incorporation into Section 3.11 of the
Land Use Element, Orange County Comprehensive Plan.
The Planning Board will prepare a recommendation on the
Plan amendment at its July 18, 1988, meeting. The Board
of Commissioners will consider the proposal on August
16, 1988.
411
_ _
