PhF <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION <br /> FOR <br /> COMMISSIONER BERNADETTE PELISSIER <br /> WHEREAS, the residents of Orange County elected Bernadette Pelissier to the Board of County <br /> Commissioners in 2008 and re-elected her in 2012; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Bernadette Pelissier was elected Chair of the Board of Commissioners in 2011 and again in <br /> 2012; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Bernadette has proven herself to be a dedicated and effective public servant who has gained <br /> the respect of all who have known her in both the public and private sectors; and <br /> WHEREAS, prior to her election as a Commissioner, Bernadette served on the Orange County Planning <br /> Board, Commission for the Environment, Special Transit Advisory Committee, Shaping Orange County's <br /> Future Task Force, the Carolina North Leadership Advisory Council, and also served in leadership roles <br /> as Chair of the Orange Chatham Sierra Club and Chair of the OWASA Board; and <br /> WHEREAS, during her tenure as an Orange County Commissioner, Bernadette Pelissier has shared her <br /> talent for leadership and public service through her work on numerous committees, boards, and task <br /> forces focusing on regional transportation, environmental protection, and improving jail conditions; and <br /> WHEREAS, she served on the Triangle Transit Board of Trustees, Orange County Board of Health, <br /> Orange County Partnership for Young Children, Orange County Family Success Alliance, GoTriangle, <br /> and Chair of the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness; and <br /> WHEREAS, she served as a member of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners' <br /> Environment Steering Committee and the Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee; and <br /> WHEREAS, Bernadette has served on the Jail Alternative Work Group and was recently appointed for an <br /> Emeritus position on the Orange County Criminal Justice Advisory Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce awarded Bernadette Pelissier, Chair of the <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners, with the 2011 Chair's Award for Public-Private Partnership ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners desire, on behalf of County officials and <br /> employees, and the residents of Orange County, to express to Bernadette Pelissier their deep <br /> appreciation and gratitude for the services rendered by her to the County over the past eight years. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Orange County Board of Commissioners offers Bernadette <br /> our very best wishes for success, happiness, prosperity and good health in her future endeavors. <br /> This the fifth day of December 2016.
