Proclamation Recognizing University of North Carolina (UNC) Men's Lacrosse 2016 <br /> NCAA Championship <br /> The Board considered approving the proclamation recognizing the UNC Men's <br /> Lacrosse Team for winning the 2016 National Championship and authorize the Chair to sign <br /> the proclamation on behalf of the Board. <br /> Coach David Metzbower said this is the first NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship win <br /> for UNC since 1991. He reviewed the schedule and wins. <br /> Chair McKee read the proclamation: <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON <br /> UNC MEN'S LACROSSE TEAM WINNING THE <br /> 2016 NCAA LACROSSE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP <br /> WHEREAS, on May 30, 2016, the University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team captured <br /> the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse National Championship; and, <br /> WHEREAS, under the guidance of Head Coach Joe Breschi, the UNC men's lacrosse team <br /> earned its first NCAA National Championship title since 1991; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Tar Heels completed the season with a 14-13 overtime win against Maryland; <br /> and, <br /> WHEREAS, the UNC men's lacrosse team finished the year with a 12-6 record; and, <br /> WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment, the Tar Heels have <br /> brought honor upon themselves, the University of North Carolina, Orange County <br /> and the State of North Carolina; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> expresses its sincere appreciation and respect for the University of North Carolina <br /> men's lacrosse team, for the Tar Heels' outstanding achievement, and for their <br />
