Todd Dickinson, one of the Historic Preservation Commission's original <br />members, is eligible to serve on the commission again. Terri Russ is eligible to serve her first <br />term. <br />The Historic Preservation Commission participates in the Certified Local. Government <br />program. All HPC members must have personal, professional, and/or organization <br />experience related to historic preservation. Examples of appropriate professions include: <br />architect, historian, architectural historian, archaeologist, landscape architect, planner, <br />anthropologist, curator, conservationist, or folklorist, or other activities that are related to <br />historic preservation. Members must also reside in Orange County's planning jurisdiction. <br />Todd Dickinson is the President of Dickinson Restorations, Inc., a contracting firm <br />specializing in preservation and restoration. In addition to his understanding of the history <br />of the HPC, their mission, and their work on previous projects, Mr. Dickinson will bring his <br />considerable knowledge of architectural history and historic building technology to the <br />commission. Terri Russ is a professional archaeologist with over ten years of experience in <br />cultural resource surveying, including work in Orange County. Her experience in <br />anthropology and archaeology should add another level of expertise ~ to our existing <br />membership and provide for a more well rounded preservation board <br />HPC members and Historic Preservation staff have been in contact with Mr. Dickinson and <br />Ms. Russ and they are interested in serving on the commission. Both candidates meet the <br />requirements far commission membership and reside within Orange County's planning <br />jurisdiction. Please convey this to the Board of County Commissioners for their <br />consideration in April. Mr. Dickinson would fill the seat vacated by Dale Georgiade, who <br />rotated off in March of last year. Ms. Russ would fill the seat currently held by Steve <br />Rankin. Mr. Rankin, who is also an archaeologist, was formally appointed in 7anuary of <br />2006 but has yet to.attend a meeting. <br />
