The wording of the specifications shall be interpreted in accordance with common usage <br /> of the language except words having a common used technique or trade meaning shall be <br /> so interpreted in preference to other meanings. <br /> 1.06 Codes and Standards <br /> Whenever reference is given to codes or standard specifications, or other data published by <br /> regulating agencies or accepted organizations including but not limited to State of North Carolina <br /> Building Code, Federal Specifications, ASTM Specifications, Underwriters' Laboratories, <br /> various institute specifications and the like, it shall be understood that such reference is to the <br /> latest edition,including addenda,published prior to the date of the specifications. <br /> 1.07 Use of Premises and Removal of Debris <br /> A. Traffic ways to the building shall be kept clear and open at all times. Noise and dirt shall <br /> be kept to a minimum. All dirt and debris shall be promptly cleaned up and properly <br /> disposed of. <br /> B. Whenever the Contractor finds it necessary to shut off any services or utilities to any <br /> portion of the building,the Owner shall be notified a minimum of 48 hours in advance to <br /> arrange the shutdown of such services or utilities to occur at a time convenient to the <br /> Owner. <br /> C. Parking of Contractor vehicles on site shall be in accordance with Orange County policy. <br /> 1.08 Protection of Persons and Property <br /> The Contractor shall immediately report to the Owner's Representative by telephone all <br /> accidents, near accidents, and fires on the project resulting in injury, damage, or death, and <br /> subsequently confirm by letter. This in no way relieves the Contractor from making reports <br /> required by law. <br /> 1.09 Roofing Protection <br /> I <br /> The Contractor or any of its agents shall not move materials or equipment over the roof during or <br /> after the completion of new roofing, unless fully protected from damage. Observations of such <br /> occurring shall be cause for the Designer or the Owner to suspend the work until protection is <br /> provided and any damage corrected.
