The application of adhesive shall be quickly followed by weathering sheet. The adhesive
shall be kept within six feet of the roll. Adhesive shall not be applied to lap areas. Lap areas
must be kept free of adhesive.
E. Whenever possible, the entire roll of felt should be applied in a continuous manner. If rolls
are allowed to set while partially rolled out,the membrane shall be cut and reset in a unifoim
application of adhesive, lapping minimum of 12 inches back onto previously laid portion of
roll.
F. All side and end laps shall be heat fused. All laps shall be clean and free of dirt, debris and
contaminants prior to welding. No open flames shall be used for heat fusing.
G. A bead of molten bitumen shall be visible at all seams. The bead shall be a minimum of 3/8
inch in width but not greater than one inch width.
H. No side or end laps shall occur within 18 inches of the center line of roof drains.
3.05 Granules
A. Membrane baseflashing shall be constructed over the top of the completed roof
membrane and onto vertical surfaces using polymer modified materials. Flashing shall
be applied by heat fusing. All wood surfaces shall be covered with a mechanically
fastened base ply prior to application of flashing membrane. The base ply shall be
adhered with flashing cement and fastened a minimum of nine inches on center.
B. Flashing materials shall conform tightly to vertical and inclined surfaces. Bridging, sagging,
or air pockets will not be accepted. All laps shall be heat fused.
C. Unless otherwise shown on the drawings, extend flashing a minimum of eight inches above
the finished roof level and a minimum of four inches onto the horizontal membrane surface.
D. Secure basfiashing sheet to vertical surface one inch below top with termination bar and
fasteners. Fasteners shall be positioned at 8 inches on center.
E. All corners shall be reinforced with hand-cut piece of modified bitumen membrane in the
shape of an oval to adequately cover the lapped joint at the corner.
F. Prior to the end of each day's work, all flashing work associated with that day's
membrane application shall be completed. Sheet metal and lead flanges shall be properly
stripped in.
G.
