Verify that projections will provide eight inches of finished flashing height as a minimum <br /> —12 inches where possible. Modify curbs and projections as necessary to achieve height. <br /> I. Verify that pipes, sleeves, ducts, and vents through the roof are solidly set and fastened <br /> into place. Seal around all roof penetrations to prevent drippage of roof products into the <br /> building. <br /> J. Verify that all flashings have been installed prior to application of surfacing membrane. <br /> K. Verify that existing roof drains are clear and free-flowing prior to beginning roof work. <br /> Obstructed drains shall be brought to the attention of the Owner for disposition. Upon <br /> completion of all roof work,verify that all drains are clear and free-flowing. Drains found to <br /> be obstructed shall be cleared without cost to the Owner. <br /> L. Broken, missing or damaged drain components shall be replaced. Existing drain <br /> components e.g. rings, clamps, bolts, strainers, etc. shall be thoroughly cleaned prior to <br /> reinstallation. Paint drain strainers and clamping rings red. <br /> M. Prevent materials from entering and obstructing roof drains and conductors and from <br /> spilling or migrating onto surfaces of other construction. Remove roof-drain plugs when <br /> no work is taking place or when rain is forecast. <br /> N. Daily inspections of all completed work shall be made to assure the quality of the <br /> application and insure that any deficiencies are immediately resolved. <br /> O. Should the substrate be found unacceptable and outside the preparation requirements <br /> contracted for, the Owner's representative shall be immediately notified in writing to <br /> allow appropriate actions to be taken. <br /> P. Application of materials shall constitute acceptance of the surface by the Contractor. <br /> 3.02 Installation-General <br /> A. Strictly adhere to the applicable manufacturer's specifications for installation unless <br /> otherwise specified. Instructions and procedures described herein shall be considered <br /> minimum requirements for application of materials. <br /> B. Organize work such that no foot traffic will occur on completed roof areas. Foot traffic over <br /> newly installed membrane shall not be allowed. <br /> C. Prime all masonry and metal surfaces scheduled to receive bituminous materials and <br /> allow to dry. Apply primer at the rate of 0.4 gallons per 100 square feet over entire <br /> surface. <br /> D. Install cant at locations where membrane transitions from horizontal to vertical. Set cant <br /> in continuous bed of flashing cement on both horizontal and vertical surfaces. Install <br /> treated wood cant where detailed;properly secure cant with appropriate fasteners. <br /> E. All rooftop ventilating equipment, exhaust fans, etc. shall be covered to prevent the entry of <br /> fumes into the facility.
