Roof membrane system shall be a two-ply polymer modified bituminous system specifically <br /> designed and formulated for installation with cold adhesives. Membrane roof system shall <br /> have Severe Hail rating. <br /> B. Polymer Modified Bituminous Membrane Base Ply — Shall be a polymer modified <br /> membrane with non-woven polyester reinforcement, thickness approximately 90 mils. <br /> Membrane shall conform to the requirements of ASTM D6163-97, ASTM D6164-97, <br /> ASTM D6222,ASTM D5147,ASTM D412 and UL 790. <br /> C. Polymer Modified Bituminous Membrane Weathering Sheet — Shall be a polymer <br /> modified membrane, fire retardant, with fiberglass and non- woven polyester mat <br /> reinforcement, thickness approximately 130 mils and surfaced with opaque, inert, non- <br /> combustible ceramic granules. Membrane shall conform to the requirements of ASTM <br /> D6163-97, ASTM D6222,ASTM D5147, and UL 790. Color shall be light gray. <br /> D. The following roof membrane manufacturers are provided as examples of manufacturers <br /> who typically meet the requirements of these specifications: Soprema, Siplast, Firestone, <br /> and GAF. The referenced manufacturers are acceptable only if they are able to provide the <br /> specified materials. The cited examples are used only to denote the quality standard of <br /> product desired and do not restrict bidders to a specific manufacturer, brand, make, or <br /> specific name. Substitution of manufacturers with equivalent products shall be submitted to <br /> the designer for approval or disapproval no less than 72 hours prior to the opening of the <br /> bids. <br /> 2.02 Accessories <br /> A. Adhesive: Shall be a high performance adhesive, asbestos and solvent free, and Factory <br /> Mutual approved for fire and wind. The membrane manufacturer shall approve of the <br /> adhesive. If the membrane manufacturer does not include the adhesive within its warranty, <br /> a separate adhesion warranty shall be supplied by the adhesive manufacturer. Adhesive <br /> types include: <br /> 1. One part thixotropic asphalt-based adhesive. <br /> 2. One part, moisture cured asphaltic urethane with elastomeric characteristics. <br /> Adhesive may be used in conjunction with primer. <br /> 3. Single component,moisture cured polyurethane adhesive. <br /> B. Baseflashing: Shall be of same material as roof membrane, or as specified by membrane <br /> manufacturer. <br /> C. Elastomeric Flashing Cement: Shall be asphalt-based, premium rubber modified <br /> specifically used for SBS or APP modified sheets, non-asbestos fiber flashing cement <br /> conforming to the requirements of ASTM D4586, Type I. <br /> D. Granules: Shall be ceramic-clad specifically designed for roofing use and meeting the <br /> requirements of ASTM D451,No. 11 sieve.
