Side and end laps shall be rolled with a minimum 20 lb steel roller to assure adhesion; a <br /> continuous bead of adhesive extending between 1/4" and 1/2" shall be visible at all laps <br /> after application. <br /> H. All laps and leading edges shall be thoroughly examined for quality of fusion. Prior to <br /> the end of each day's work, all discrepant areas shall be reworked and properly fused. <br /> 3.04 Board Insulation <br /> A. Install one layer of flat board insulation over entire roof. Insulation shall be installed in <br /> adhesive. Adhesive distribution rates shallibe in accordance with rates set forth by the <br /> manufacturer but not less than 1.5 gallons per 100 square feet. Adhesive beads, <br /> approximately 3/4" in diameter, shall be applied at 12 inches on center within the field of <br /> the roof. <br /> B. Insulation shall be "walked in" to assure maximum contact. Perform additional "walk <br /> ins" every 5 minutes for 30 minutes until the insulation board is firmly secured. <br /> C. At perimeter walls and corners increase quantities of adhesive as follows unless <br /> otherwise recommended by the manufacturer: <br /> 1. Perimeters: Apply adhesive beads, approximately 3/4" in diameter, at six inches <br /> on center. Perimeter is defined as the smaller of 0.1 times the lesser plan <br /> dimension of the building or 0.4 times the height of the building, minimum <br /> perimeter width shall not be less than three feet (Perimeters are approximately <br /> ten feet). <br /> 2. Corners: Apply adhesive beads, approximately 3/4" in diameter, at four inches <br /> on center in the corners of the roof. Corner is a square of the perimeter distance. <br /> D. Tapered material shall be installed over flat board insulation. Insulation shall be installed <br /> in adhesive as noted in this Section. <br /> E. Tapered edge strips shall be installed where required to provide smooth transition to <br /> underlying board insulation. <br /> 3.05 Crickets and Saddles <br /> A. Construct crickets on up-slope side of curbs and projections greater than 24 inches in <br /> length to ensure positive drainage. <br /> B. Construct saddles at locations as designated on the roof plan. <br /> C. Tapered edge strips shall be installed along perimeter of saddles and crickets to provide <br /> smooth transition to underlying board insulation. <br /> 3.06 Cutting and Fitting <br /> A. Adjacent insulation boards shall be tightly abutted but not forced together. Gaps between 1 <br /> insulation boards shall not exceed 1/8 inch in width. <br /> 16-171 Board Insulation <br /> 072120-5 <br />
