Install no more insulation than can be completely dried-in with membrane in the same <br /> day. Contractor shall strictly conform to this requirement. <br /> B. Comply with the provisions of Section 075217, Polymer Modified Bituminous <br /> Membrane Roofing(Cold Applied), regarding additional requirements. <br /> C. Insulation shall be laid in parallel courses. Stagger end joints of adjacent boards a <br /> minimum of 24 inches. Joints of overlying boards shall be staggered from the underlying <br /> board a minimum of 24 inches in both directions. <br /> D. Where more than one layer of insulation is used, joints shall be staggered from the <br /> underlying layer with each layer firmly adhered to the previous layer. <br /> E. Upon completion of the work in each area, visually inspect and verify that all <br /> components are complete and properly installed and that all fasteners are properly located <br /> and securely anchored. <br /> F. Keep insulation minimum 3 inches from heat emitting devices, and minimum 2 inches <br /> from sidewalls of Type A chimneys and Type B and L vents. <br /> G. Prevent materials from entering and obstructing roof drains and conductors and from <br /> spilling or migrating onto surfaces of other construction through use of plugs. Remove <br /> roof-drain plugs when no work is taking place or when rain is forecast. <br /> H. Night time tie-ins shall have temporary stagger in place "fill in" courses that can be <br /> removed when subsequent work begins. <br /> 3.03 Polymer Modified Membrane Base Sheet <br /> A. Install one ply of polymer modified bitumen membrane base sheet shingle fashion into a <br /> unifoi in application of adhesive. The base sheet shall have minimum four-inch side laps <br /> and six-inch end laps. End laps shall be staggered a minimum of 18 inches. <br /> B. Adhesive distribution shall be in accordance with rates set forth by the roof membrane <br /> manufacturer but not less than 1.5 gallons/100 square feet. Base sheet shall be <br /> thoroughly rolled into place as applied to aid adhesion and shall contain no voids, air <br /> pockets, or bridging. Rolling shall be accomplished prior to welding of the laps. A <br /> "garden drum type roller' should be used for rolling of the membrane. Foot traffic over <br /> newly installed modified shall not be allowed. <br /> C. Application of adhesive shall be quickly followed by base sheet. Adhesive shall be kept <br /> within six feet of the roll. Lap areas must be kept free of adhesive. <br /> D. Whenever possible, the entire roll of base sheet should be applied in a continuous <br /> manner. If rolls are allowed to set while partially rolled out, the base sheet shall be cut <br /> and reset in a uniform application of adhesive, lapping minimum of 12 inches back onto <br /> previously laid portion of roll. <br /> E. All side and end laps shall be heat fused. Stagger end laps a minimum of three feet. <br /> Cold adhesive shall not be applied to lap areas. All laps shall be clean and free of dirt, <br /> debris and contaminants prior to welding. No open flames shall be used for heat fusing. <br /> 16-171 Board Insulation <br /> 072120-4 <br />
