ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: April 24, 2007 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 7- a <br />SUBJECT: Proposal Regarding Historic Rogers Road Community Enhancement Plan <br />DEPARTMENT: County Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Commissioner Carey's Proposal <br />Rogers Road Area Maps <br />INFORMATION CONTACT:. <br />Moses Carey, Jr., Chair, 245-2130 <br />PURPOSE: To present and discuss a proposal from BOCC Chair Moses Carey, Jr. regarding <br />next steps related to the Historic Rogers Road Community. <br />BACKGROUND: At the Board of Commissioners' March 27, 2007 regular meeting, the Board <br />decided to locate the County's solid waste transfer station on the current Orange County solid <br />waste services property on Eubanks Road in Chapel Hill. As part of this discussion, the Board <br />determined that it would like to proceed with developing a plan to address various issues and <br />concerns related to the Rogers Road community that were voiced both recently as well as in <br />past years. BOCC Chair Moses Carey, Jr. has developed a proposal which is attached for <br />Board review and discussion and to begin the process of developing a plan. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with Board discussion of <br />Commissioner Carey's proposal. Depending on this and future Board discussions and <br />subsequent decisions, there may be various financial impacts for the County which can be <br />assessed at they arise. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board discuss Commissioner <br />Carey's proposal .and provide any necessary direction to staff. <br />
