WHY assistance given: 15 persons establishing an independent <br /> living situation <br /> 8 safety reasons <br /> 7 cleanliness <br /> 4 prevent homelessness <br /> 4 older/disabled able to remain at home <br /> 4 assistance to meet visitation <br /> requirements <br /> 3 families reunited <br /> 2 to meet school regulations <br /> 2 incentives for behavior changes <br /> 2 for warmth <br /> 2 help working for future employment <br /> 2 replace stolen items <br /> 1 assist parent with birthday promise <br /> 1 assist with household organization <br /> 1 assistance in preparation for rehab. <br /> 0 xmas <br /> Not included in these statistics are snacks and drinks for <br /> the waiting room, musical instruments, or commodities acquired <br /> for Camp Pegasus ( snacks, sleeping bags, personal care kits, <br /> fruit etc. ) . <br /> During the past year the Resource Committee has tried to <br /> match donations to client needs in such a way that storage is not <br /> needed. A building at Maple View Farm in the Orange Grove <br /> Community has been made available to Friends . <br /> An increasing number of people like the idea of recycling <br /> their unused household items and helping DSS clients. Donors <br /> tell us they like to help clients gain self sufficiency and that <br /> they feel good in assisting families get back together. <br /> The committee is trying to figure out ways to simplify the <br /> process of filling social worker requests. <br /> . . . A resource volunteer list needs to be made . More <br /> attention needs to be given to utilizing the list. <br /> In particular, board members and others will be <br /> requested more often this next year to assist in special <br /> onetime tasks. <br /> . . . The Resource/Donations list will now be compiled on a <br /> quarterly basis. <br /> . . . Layettes, musical instruments, waiting room diapers, <br /> snacks for waiting rooms, interview rooms, and client <br /> groups will each be handled by a specific resource <br /> volunteer. <br />
