0 <br />April 19 BOCC Worksession <br />Parks Pre-Construction and Design Updates <br />1. Northern Park (Phase 1) <br />a. Site Plan approved. A condition regarding the wastewater system must <br />be resolved prior to building permits being issued. If irrigation is part of <br />the Phase I facilities, a new well and storage tank is proposed. <br />b. Staff and consultant are proceeding to develop the construction bid <br />documents, construction drawings, and get necessary state permits. <br />c. New cost estimates have been prepared by the consultant (these are <br />comprehensive estimates, including bonds and contingencies). Staff <br />has worked to tailor a proposed Phase I to'the $1.05-$1.2 million in <br />remaining funds, pending notice of the $500,000 PARTF grant <br />application in May. Some facilities would be listed as "add alternates," <br />in case additional funding is available. <br />d. In order to complete bid documents and solicit bids, the Phase I <br />facilities must be identified. Staff has developed three possible options <br />for Phase I for the park: <br />1. Option 1 - $1.2 million (available funds plus payment-in-lieu): <br />includes baseball/softball field, multi-purpose field, infrastructure, <br />access road, parking areas (2), plantings and playground. Does <br />not include well or irrigation, lighting, picnic shelter/restrooms. <br />2. Option 2 - $1.7 million (available funds, payment-in-lieu and <br />State grant): includes items in Option 1 plus basketball courts, <br />picnic shelter with restrooms (and utility hookups), lighting of <br />baseball/softball field, and other associated amenities. <br />3. Option 3 - $1.85 million (shortfall of $150,000 including all funds <br />in Option 2 above): includes items in Option 2, plus paved <br />walking track and well/irrigation for fields. <br />e. Name for the Park (future decision item for the Board)? The current <br />working title is Northern Park (at Northern Human Services Center). <br />Timetable of Next Steps <br />1. Status report/ Phase I scope direction -April 19 <br />2. Bid documents finalized, bids solicited -May/June <br />3. Construction Bid -June 26 <br />4. Park construction -July 2007-June 2008 <br />5. Park opening -Late-summer/early-fall 2008 <br />' An irrigation system is not a given for Phase I, but hose bids/field hydrants for irrigation <br />purposes will be needed. <br />
