Demonstration <br /> Grant Application. <br /> The North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and <br /> Community Development (NRCD) has announced the availability <br /> of funds for housing demonstration programs. This program <br /> is designed to encourage innovative approaches to improving <br /> and creating housing for low and moderate income people. <br /> Eligible projects must address one of the following areas. <br /> 1 - Preservation and Maintenance of Low and Moderate <br /> Income Housing: <br /> 2 - Adaptive Reuse of Structures or Property for <br /> Conversion to Low and Moderate Income Housing; <br /> 3 - Self-Help Approaches to Housing Rehabilitation or <br /> Construction for Low and Moderate Income Persons. <br /> The deadline for applications is September 1 , 1988. <br /> Applicants are also required to conduct two public hearings <br /> before the application is submitted. <br /> In order to meet this deadline, the County must authorize <br /> the submission of an application and establish public <br /> hearing dates. Staff proposes setting July 19, 1988 and <br /> August 16, 1988 as public hearing dates to receive citizen <br /> comment regarding the CDBG application. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : 1 . Adopt a resolution authorizing the submission of a <br /> Housing Demonstration Grant application. <br /> 2. Establish July 19, 1988 and August 16, 1988 as public <br /> hearing dates to receive public comment regarding the <br /> application. <br /> • <br />
