155 <br /> 10 <br /> Section 9.5 of the Zoning Ordinance is proposed to <br /> be amended by adding a sentence which demonstrates <br /> that the sign section does not favor commercial <br /> signs over non-commercial signs. The United <br /> States Supreme Court has upheld the proposed <br /> wording in another sign ordinance. No comments <br /> were received from the public regarding the <br /> proposal. <br /> Section 6.2.3 of the Zoning Ordinance is proposed <br /> to be amended to add a new section addressing flag <br /> . k lots. Flag lots are irregularly shaped lots where <br /> the buildable area of the lot is connected to the <br /> street by a smaller narrower portion of the lot. <br /> The narrower portion extends as an arm of the lot <br /> to the street, thus the name "flag lot" . The <br /> proposed amendment will reference applicable <br /> provisions of the Orange County Subdivision <br /> Regulations which identify permitted locations and <br /> types of flag lots. <br /> Article 22 is proposed to be amended to add a <br /> definition of Flag Lot. The proposed amendment <br /> will help clarify what a flag lot is and provide a <br /> legal definition. No comments were received from <br /> the public regarding the proposals. <br /> Section IV-B-5 of the Subdivision Regulations is <br /> proposed to be amended by adding additional <br /> wording to address to incorporate provision for <br /> flag lots in a subdivision lot layout. The <br /> proposed amendment will identify permitted <br /> locations and types of flag lots. <br /> Section II of the Subdivision Regulations is <br /> proposed to be amended to add a definition of Flag <br /> Lot. The proposed amendment will clarify what a <br /> flag lot is and provide a legal definition. <br /> No comments were received from the public <br /> regarding the proposals, however, the County <br /> Attorney has recommended that the "intent" <br /> subsection of the proposed Section IV-B-5-d(a) be <br /> deleted in its entirety. <br /> The Planning Staff recommends approval of the <br /> proposed amendments included in Agenda Items 10b <br /> (1-3) and Agenda Items 10c (1&2) with the deletion <br /> of Section IV-B-5-d(a) as recommended by the <br /> County Attorney. <br /> MOTION: Best moved to recommend approval of Planning Staff <br /> recommendation.
