• 2 70 <br /> WHEREAS, the OWASA Board of Directors has asked the governing <br /> bodies of Orange County, Carrboro and Chapel Hill to comment <br /> on a proposed agreement between OWASA and Chatham County <br /> regarding sale of water and cooperative planning of water <br /> facilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Commissioners support the sharing <br /> of water supplies in the mutual interest of the citizens of <br /> Chapel Hill and other jurisdictions; and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed agreement would enable sharing of <br /> OWASA'S water supplies on an interim basis as Chatham County <br /> develops facilities to use Jordan Lake water, most likely on <br /> a joint basis with other entities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the management of growth in southern Orange and <br /> northern Chatham Counties should be conducted on a <br /> cooperative, coordinated basis in the best interests of the <br /> citizens of the areas; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners: <br /> That the Orange County Commissioners endorse the <br /> purposes of the proposed draft agreement, dated April, <br /> 1988, between Chatham County and OWASA, regarding sale <br /> of water and cooperative water supply planning. <br /> This the 6th day of June, 1988. <br />
