Citizen: <br /> • On April 21, 1987 the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> adopted the House Numbering Ordinance as required by NC <br /> General Statute 153A-240. This statute authorizes the <br /> •conVersion to house numbers from rural route and box numbers <br /> of all Orange County addresses. Postal routes in their <br /> entirety are being used to effect address changes. <br /> • Chapel Hill Rural Route 11 and a portion of Route 15 <br /> (formerly Route 5) are now being proposed for conversion to <br /> house numbers. On Tuesday, June 21, 1988, a public hearing <br /> will be held before the Orange County Board. of. Commissioners <br /> to consider the proposed assignment of house numbers to <br /> • residences and buildings on Rural Route 11 and the Damascus <br /> Road portion of Route 15 between Meacham and Smith Level <br /> Roads, both served by the Chapel Hill Post Office. The <br /> • hearing will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Franklin Street Post <br /> • Office .in Chapel Hill, N.C. <br /> • <br /> If approved, the house numbers will replace the old system of <br /> rural route- and box numbers. This change will improve mail <br /> delivery and allow 911 emergency calls faster access to <br /> addresses.
