Current Ordinance <br /> 26 <br /> Attachment 6 <br /> From Article II of the Orange County Personnel Ordinance <br /> 5.2 lDcrary APDointment <br /> Amended 5.2.1 A temporary appointment may be made for six <br /> 8/1/92 calendar months or less. The Department Head <br /> may extend the temporary appointment for six <br /> additional months. A temporary appointment may <br /> not extend beyond one year except as provided in <br /> Items 5.2.2 and 5.2.3 below. <br /> 5.2.2 With the County Manager's advance approval, the <br /> department head may extend a temporary <br /> appointment beyond one year when the employee <br /> regularly works 15 or less hours each workweek <br /> (as averaged on a monthly basis) . In urgent <br /> circumstances where additional hours are <br /> necessary to continue critical services, the <br /> County Manager may approve additional hours in <br /> writing. For this purpose, critical services <br /> includes such services as public safety and top <br /> priority goals of the County. <br /> 5.2.3 A temporary appointment may extend beyond one <br /> year when the employee is working under an <br /> established academic internship program or work <br /> study program. <br /> 5.2.4 A temporary appointment may be made to a <br /> temporary position or to a permanent position <br /> such as on a fill-in basis for an employee on <br /> leave. <br />
