Triangle Region Solid Waste Planners Committee Household Hazardous Waste <br /> October 28, 1993 <br /> Project Manager: The Project Manager oversees Health and Safety issues for activities directly <br /> related to the project operational efforts and assures that on-site supervision meets corporate <br /> standards. <br /> Project Supervisor: The Project Supervisor shall direct on-site operational efforts. At the <br /> project site the Project Supervisor, assisted by the Health and Safety Supervisor has primary <br /> responsibility for: <br /> • Assuring that all field personnel have met the training requirements; <br /> • Assuring that personnel are aware of the provisions of this plan and familiar with <br /> planned procedures for dealing with emergencies; <br /> • Assuring that personnel are aware of the potential hazards associated with site <br /> operations; <br /> • Assuring that appropriate personal protective equipment is available and properly <br /> used; <br /> • Monitoring the safety performance of all personnel; <br /> • Correcting any work practices or conditions that may result in injury or exposure <br /> to hazardous substances; <br /> • Preparing any accident/incident reports; <br /> • Implementing all aspects of the I aidlaw Injury & Illness Prevention Program as <br /> applicable to the project site. <br /> Health and Safety Regional Manager: The Project Health & Safety Manager generally will <br /> not be involved directly in site activities. However, the Health & Safety Manager will provide <br /> the following function in support of the field activities: <br /> • Maintain an adequate inventory of equipment in good working order; <br /> • Maintain all necessary files and records; <br /> • Be available for consultation by the Project Supervisor or Health and Safety <br /> Supervisor; <br /> • Modify health and safety equipment or procedures based on data gathered at the <br /> project site; <br /> • Provide occasional site audits to verify adherence to the site safety requirements. <br /> Health and Safety Supervisor: The Health and Safety Supervisor or Designee will be <br /> responsible for implementing the health and safety plan during site operations. The Health and <br /> Safety Supervisor has the authority to stop work for health and safety reasons. Other specific <br /> responsibilities include: <br /> • Verifying that all employees work in a safe manner according to the health and <br /> safety plan; <br /> • Establishing guidelines for wearing and decontaminating (if necessary) personal <br /> protective equipment; <br /> • Observing work party members for sign of exposure or stress; <br /> • Immediately reporting any unusual or unsafe conditions to the Project Supervisor; <br /> Laidlaw Environmental Services <br /> 33 <br />
