4 <br /> To pursue this goal, the Board of Health urges the Board of Commissioners <br /> to establish a Task Force on Health Objectives for the Year 2000 , modeled <br /> after the report of the Governor's Task Force on Health Objectives for <br /> the Year 2000, a copy of which is attached. A description of The <br /> Implementation Plan begins on page 29 . This task force will: <br /> 1. Inform local leaders about health problems that can be <br /> improved by wellness promotion and disease prevention. <br /> 2 . Create an ongoing community-oriented process for priority <br /> setting and action planning. <br /> 3 . Select and tailor objectives from the list recommended by <br /> the State level Task Force. <br /> 4 . Serve as the conduit for funding of cooperative health <br /> promotions. <br /> The Board of Health is prepared to play a leadership role in this <br /> endeavor and feels that the process would be strengthened if the Board of <br /> Commissioners officially adopted the goal and sanctioned the approach. <br /> This proposal is consistent with the responsibilities of local boards of <br /> health and health directors to protect and promote the public health and <br /> advise local officials concerning public health matters . <br /> We look forward to receiving your endorsement of this proposal. <br />
